Last year Puma introduced Puma Wilderness, a line of t-shirts produced in Africa from 75% fair trade cotton. The Puma Wilderness line is making an encore this coming fall. This moves Puma a step closer to fulfilling its mission “to become the most desirable and sustainable Sportslifestyle company”.
Puma was also recognized this year at the Guardian’s Annual Sustainable Business Awards 2012. Puma was honored as the overall winner this year as well as in the Biodiversity category, both for the Puma Environmental Profit and Loss Account (E P&L) (follow this link to Puma’s Annual Report and look at page 37).
In a related story, Puma’s CEO, Jochen Zeitz says his company is working toward one day being leather-free. Mr. Zeitz cites the negative environmental impact from using leather as the incentive for these comments.
Fairwear until next time…..
